"Hungry Heart: Wild Striker" is fifty-two episode Japanese anime series that is considered as a "slice of life." This is an anime series that revolves around sports. In the case of Hungry Heart Wild Striker, it focuses on the sport of soccer which is called in the United States but called football around the rest of the world. It holds truth as soccer is the most popular sport in the world. The series itself is directed by Satoshi Saga and is produced by "Nippon Animation." It is adapted from the manga which was authored by Yoichi Takahashi and published by "Akita Shoten." The manga itself was circulated for two years with six volumes total.

The series is very much influenced and inspired by the very culture of soccer. It has a lot to do of a person living in the shadow of a more successful sibling. The main character is Kanou Kyousuke who is a high-school student and soccer player. He is pretty annoyed of living in his brother's shadow. It is revealed that Kyosuke is the younger of Kanou Seisuke who is an extremely famous soccer player who is playing for a team out in Italy. People keep asking Kyosuke if they could meet his brother. This is the whole driving force behind Hungry Heart: Wild Striker. As a result, Kyosuke's passion for the soccer starts to lessen. However, he has a passion for music.

Eventually after meeting some other students that love the game, Kyosuke slowly becomes invigorated in the sport. From then, Kyosuke joins the high school soccer team and makes friends. Miki looks to be the only one that doesn't care if Kyosuke's brother is a famous soccer player. Humorously, Kyosuke is blackmailed into playing soccer as Miki threatens to take his student ID to the police station as he was involved in a traffic incident a day earlier. They all are drawn to the goal of being able to play soccer professionally.

From then, it mainly revolves around character drama and relationships along with the world of high school soccer. This anime very much brings out the true spirit of the game of soccer. For anybody that enjoys the sport of soccer should watch Hungry Heart: Wild Striker. This is one series that is purely focused on the sport of soccer. Hungry Heart: Wild Striker pretty much covers everything there is to know about the sport such as the foundations. Kyosuke in the first episode ends up having to teach the girl's soccer team the foundations for the sport as they cannot kick properly.

It's revealed that soccer is in Kyosuke's blood no matter how much he tries to deny it. When there's something figuratively in your blood, you cannot deny it. Just about anybody of various ages can watch something like Hungry Heart: Wild Striker. It looks as there is no English-dubbed version of the series available yet. No North American company has acquired the license to the series yet. It's unknown if or when it will officially be released to the United States.
